Goodbye Summer

Warm Summer Sun

By Mark Twain

Warm summer sun,

          Shine kindly here,

Warm southern wind,

          Blow softly here.

Green sod above,

          Lie light, lie light.

Good night, dear heart,

          Good night, good night.

Goodbye, Summer. You will be missed.  The way you shine into our kitchen in the early morning hours. The way you warm our toes when we play in the sand. The way you encourage us to stretch our bones rather than retreat to the quiet corners of the house. See you next year!

“It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
    you made both summer and winter.”

Psalm 74:17
